I have six drawings from the Apology Series appearing in a humor-themed show, appropriately entitled “Monkey Business” at the North Seattle College Art Gallery. The show opens Tuesday September 20th with two receptions, one at 1-3pm and the other at 5-7pm, and it’ll run until October 24th. The address is 9600 College Way North, Seattle WA 98103. Other exhibitors include fabulous fellow Compound artist Jeanne Lorenz. And lets face it, any exhibition that features the word ‘Monkey’ in the title has to worth a visit.

I’ll be taking part in a three person show at The Compound in Oakland, opening Saturday February 8th, 6-9 pm. The show is titled Things That Happened and Things We Made Up, and my fellow artists are the magnificently talented Alison Tharp, and the equally superb Liam Golden. It is an honor indeed to be hanging on the same walls as these two, and it should be a very interesting, provocative and entertaining show. I plan on having around 15 new pieces on the walls, including some new paintings. I’ll be posting a few little tasters here over the coming weeks. The exhibition will be hanging until Sunday March 3rd at which point there ill be a closing tea and an Artists Panel. Hope to see you there.

And if you’re lucky enough to find yourself in Oakland you can also witness it, in all its spectacular glory, up on the wall of the Compound Gallery as part of the excellent “The Art Of Letterpress 2” show. The show is on until December 15th and is seriously worth a visit, especially if you’re interested ingiving the gift of affordable, original art to those you love this holiday season.
I have a series of six drawings appearing in a group show called Cartographers Delight, at the Hellion Gallery in Portland. It’s at 19 NW 5th Ave, Suite 204, and the opening is tonight (November 7th) from 7pm - 10pm. The show will be up until the end of November.
All works are 12 inches x 9 Inches, mixed media and letterpress on Bristol Board, and they’re going for a mere $100.00 a pop.
Here’s another letterpress print for your edification. It will be making an appearance (as will I) at APE - the Alternative Press Expo, in San Francisco tomorrow, Saturday October 13th and Sunday 14th. It’s taking place at The Concourse Exhibition Center, 835 8th Street from 11:00 am - 6:00pm and my work and I will be at The Compound Gallery booth 853 . There will be lots of affordable prints for sale, as well as letterpressing on site and goodies to give away. Hope you can drop by.
This piece, entitled “The Corner of 34th & No Going Back”, will be making an appearance at the Compound Gallery’s next group show, Scouting Oakland. The Grand Opening is this Saturday, August 3rd, from 6-9pm, and it runs through Sunday September 15th, (when the traditional Closing Tea will take place from 3-6pm).
It promises to be a pretty interesting show, so if you find yourself at a loose end in Oaktown, come and check it out.
Here’s my Hands & Pants collaboration with John Casey. On show at the 63 Bluxome Street Gallery in San Francisco through July 30th.
“Hands & Pants” is a collaborative drawing venture, employing 70+ of John Casey’s artist peers. John drew either hands or pants or both, in his simple pen-and-ink style on 8″x10″ Bristol paper. An invited artist was given the hands and/or pants and asked to complete the figure in any way they saw fit.
My solo show at The Compound Gallery ends this Sunday. There will be a Closing Tea complete with Artist Talk, although as of now I’ve no idea what I’ll be actually be saying during this talk. I suspect there may be some apologizing. Anyhow, it’s all happening between 3 -6 pm and this will be your very last chance to feast your eyes on the above wall installation, because it’ll be disappearing forever once the show closes. Hope you can make it.
